Korean War & Korea Defense Service Veterans, The Villages (FL), Chapter 169
About Us
History of KWVA Chapter #169; Chapter was founded / Incorporated on August 25, 1998 and charted on March 4, 1999 as Chapter 169 Lake County, FL. Our primary meeting place was at the Senior Center in Leesburg, FL. In the ensuring years our meeting attendance declined in Leesburg and it was decided that we look for another place to have our meetings. Beginning in 2009 our new meeting place was established in The Villages, FL. Thanks to The Villages founder Harold Schwartz setting aside “Saddlebrook Recreation Center” to be a place used by all veterans from every branch of military service. We meet the fourth Tuesday each month (unless there is a conflict with holidays, this is noted on our calendar) at Saddlebrook Recreation Center, 3010 Saddlebrook Lane, The Villages at 1 PM.
KWVA National; If you’ve ever been deployed or served in Korea, either during the War of afterwards, you would understand why joining the Korean War Veterans Association makes sense! Our shared experiences make us part of a unique legacy whose goals are:
(1) To organize as a veterans service organization in order to maintain a continuing interest in the welfare of veterans of the Korean War, and rehabilitation of the disabled veterans of the Korean War to include all that served during active hostilities and subsequently in defense of the Republic of Korea, and their families.
(2) To establish facilities for the assistance of all veterans and to represent them in their claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs and other organizations without charge.
(3) To perpetuate and preserve the comradeship and friendships born on the field of battle and nurtured by the common experience of service to the United States during the time of war and peace.
(4) To honor the memory of the men and women who gave their lives so that the United States and the world might be free and live by the creation of living memorial, monuments, and other forms of additional educational, cultural, and recreational facilities.
Our Chapter now has a monument that honors the lives lost fighting in the Korean War 1950 – 1953 and pay tribute to “A Nation Saved” . It is in The Villages Veterans Memorial Park.
(5) To preserve for the people of the United States and posterity of such people the great and basic truths and enduring principles upon which the United States was founded.
